Tsuga diversifolia 'Loowit'
Loowit Japanese Hemlock. A little landscape plant with personality plus. New foliage emerges bright spring green early in the season, aging to rich dark green in summer. Soft evergreen foliage is composed of many tiny, long, flat, blunt needles - like miniature Taxus/Yew foliage. Not only is the foliage small, but the brown buds and short, slender stems are diminuative as well. Has a rounded shape from above, but each plant has a unique "tree-like" structure when viewed at eye-level. Perfect for trough gardens, railroad gardens, fairy gardens and miniature gardens. Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Cold hardy to zone 4. Plants are growing in 3.5"h x 4"diameter pots.
- Dwarf conifer, grows 1-3" per year once established
- Prefers moist, well-drained soil
- Grow in full sun
- Cold hardy to about -20° to -30°F
- Recommended for outdoor gardens only
