Rosmarinus officinalis 'Arp'
Common rosemary in a tree form, providing the all important height and structure necessary for realistic miniature garden scenes. Plants are pruned into a tree shape (called "standard") to reveal the light brown woody stem or "trunk". Dark gray-green leaves are long and narrow and very fragrant when touched. "Trunks" can be gnarled and "bark" sometimes peels, which can give it the look of an old tree with character. Trim, with scissors, as needed to maintain the round tree shape. For a longer trunk and higher canopy, remove the lower branches as the plant grows taller. An easy to grow plant in sun or partial shade outdoors. While some people can have good luck growing rosemary indoors, our experience is that it is much easier to grow outside. Needs well-drained soil and is drought tolerant once established. Water at the base of the plant for the first two weeks, until it has a chance to root out into the surrounding soil. Great for sunny for miniature gardens, fairy gardens, little landscapes and railroad gardens. Cold hard to about USDA zone 8-10.
