Cryptomeria japonica 'Tansu'
(Tansu Japanese Cedar). A very cool little evergreen. Each pointed needle extends straight out from the stem. Each stem extends into its own space, with a slight arch. Overall effect is an artistic shape and intriguing form. Foliage is not sharp, but touching the plant reminds me of teased hair with lots of Aqua Net (hairspray). Images show bright green spring foliage, which changes to deep blue-green for summer and bronze in winter. Has a broad upright habit. A good accent/statement plant. Nice for Asian-style gardens and rock gardens. Perfect for creating a spooky Halloween fairy garden. Small root ball is easy to plant and fits into small garden spaces, troughs and containers. Cold hardy to zone 6 - Protect from dry, cold winds. Plants are growing in 2.25" x 2.25" x 3.5"h pots.
