Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Treasure Island'
Treasure Island Port Orford Cedar/Lawson Cypress. Outstanding color for the miniature garden, fairy garden, trough or railroad garden. Not the usual yellow-green or chartreuse green color commonly seen in conifers, but rather a beautiful chiffon yellow. Gentle yellow cream tips gradually change to blue green foliage towards the center of the plants. Soft to the touch. Has an upright conical form now, growing wider with age. Grows best in full sun and well-drained soil, with some afternoon shade in hot summer areas. A very pretty plant for softer color palettes. Would be lovely in a vintage garden setting, next to a little yellow house, or in a garden with blues, yellows and ivories. Cold hardy to zone 5. Current crop is about 7-10" tall above the top of the soil and 2-4" wide (smaller than those shown).
- Miniature conifer, growing less than 1" per year
- Prefers full sun and well-drained soil; may appreciate some afternoon shade in summer in warmer zones
- Cold hardy to -10 to -20 F
- Recommended for outdoor gardens only
